Dallas Morning News Bias – November 15, 2013

QUOTE YOU WON’T SEE IN THE NEWS’ SUNDAY TALKING POINTS
“[Obama’s] basically, I think, just creating chaos … Suddenly, ObamaCare has been turned into a policy that exists merely to protect people from substandard insurance plans. Have you noticed that? That’s the new talking point? When was that ever the point of this?”
— Democrat strategist Kirsten Powers, on Obama’s health law “fix”
NOT NEWS TO THE DALLAS MORNING MOVEON.ORG NEWS
1) Obamacare official admits plans will cost more ‘in many cases,’ even with subsidies
2) Second O’Keefe video shows ‘navigator’ advocating fraud
(This one’s in Houston!)
3) Solar panels frying birds along major migratory path
Meanwhile, The News’ “news” and opinion
*Obama: OK to extend plans, NYT, p. 1A – Dear Leader changes “The Law of the Land” again! And The News’ header sounds like he can actually do this! He’s “OK’d” it, people! Breathe easy! (Very effective on low-info voters, folks — believe me.) … Note, USA Today, no conservative rag, has a different take today: Health law shakes presidency. And The Wall Street Journal: Obama retreats on health rules. … Amazing isn’t it, where we are, aided by outlets like The DMN? The President of the United States stands before us to announce what personal insurance policies he will and will not allow? (And King George III did what again?) … See below, more The News won’t tell you:
*With president’s reversal, what are insurance changes?, Q&A, AP, p. 9A – Loved these helpful questions:
Problem solved? No, AP says, ‘cuz Obama didn’t “force insurance companies to do anything.”
— Why not force insurance companies to extend those old policies? “That’s a more radical step,” says AP, [we’re not quite ready for that],adding Dems don’t have a problem with it. It’s coming though, AP hints: “More steps may be required.”
— I get my insurance through my job. Sounds like I don’t need to worry. Right! says AP: “The vast majority of employer-based plans shouldn’t be affected by the changes announced by Obama.” Not mentioned: The employer mandate kicks in a year from now. Then you can worry!
Folks, they think we’re stupid. And sadly, many are.

*Policy, Not Politics, Editorial, p. 20A – Check out this pablum: “This newspaper appreciates many goals of Obamacare but opposed it overall because of concerns about its funding. Still, like many Americans, we recognize the good that could come from it. Tempting though it may be, the wiser course is to ride out this rocky start.”  Yes, historically, transformation to top-down authoritarianism does involve “rocky starts.” And it’s always been sold as: “good could come from it.” … (Not a word here on whether Dear Leader has the authority to do what he’s doing. They don’t care.)
*Democrats recruiting Dream Team II for ’14, Between Wayne Slater’s Ears, p. 3A – Wow, DMN senior Dem scribe “3-Dub” Slater is buzzed at the prospect of “Abortion Barbie” and “Barrio Boopsie” running Texas. His second glowing review in two days! (Back off, PC Police. Slater quotes Van de Putte here saying, “I still live in the barrio. If I get lost, I can find the gang signs on my way home. The closest gated community to my house is the jail.”) … Like a good lib, Slater concentrates here on the candidates’ genitalia and race: The Republican hopefuls are “largely white and male,” the Dems “conspicuously diverse and female.” And cool running shoes, Wayne! Don’t forget that!
