How’s Your HQ? (Hope Quotient)

by Ron Woodruff

Bad policies, bad laws, bad court decisions!   Do you feel bombarded?   Are you optimistic about the future of America?   If not, you have a lot of company.  The mainstream press is telling us that the TEA Party movement is dead.  You see frightening parallels when comparing America’s moral decline to that of ancient Rome.  You would have never believed your country could ever become what it is today.  You ask yourself how such small factions of the electorate have gained control of so much political power.

So, here’s the key question:   What are you doing about it?   When you boil this thing down, there are really only three choices.   (1) We can give up.   (2) We can leave.   (3) We can turn off the TV and get involved.   If option 3 looks like the best choice, then it’s no coincidence that you’re reading this newsletter.   You believe that a few politically active citizens can have an enormous impact on the course of government.   If you don’t believe that, then ask yourself how Ted Cruz won an “impossible” senate race.

Senator Cruz believes in option 3.   Here’s what he had to say in his July 16 email newsletter:

“There is no greater privilege than the ability to wake up every day to fight for Texas and the U.S. Constitution. Just yesterday, I joined patriots from across the country who gathered at the U.S. Capitol to unite in support of securing the border, fixing our broken immigration system, and doing so in a way that respects the rule of law.

In addition, last week I filed legislation to defund Obamacare, voiced my opposition to an attempt to pack the D.C. Circuit court, and issued a call that the Senate continue to play a critical role in advising and consenting to executive nominations, including the newly vacated position of Department of Homeland Security Secretary.”

You might well ask, “What can I do?  I’m not a U.S. Senator.”   There are many opportunities to get involved and make a difference.  The challenge is not to find them;  the challenge is to focus relentlessly on one or two issues and to make something good happen.   The NTCL (North Texas Citizens Lobby) is a good place to start.   Give us a call or check out our web site.  We can share many a story of how a few individuals changed some key outcomes of the 83rd Texas Legislative Session.   We would love to have you join the NTCL crusade for our state and for our One Nation Under God
